Philips produced a range of audio and Hi-Fi components in New Zealand.
Some were based on their European counterparts but most were designed here.
There is also some crossover between Philips and PYE products as Philips bought the PYE factory in Waihi and continued production there for a while.
One particular later series made in the 1980s was based/copied on a Japanese design but the origin is unknown at present.
Philips had manufacturing plants in Waihi, Auckland and Wellington. Different products were made at the various locations.

Rare to see one of these units now, even harder to find photos of one. These photos were taken of an actual unit on sale at a recycling centre. The AH897 is very similar to the 23RH857.
It has a power output of 18 watts per channel.
