National NM116 MKII (HES 20) home entertainment system
This was probably one of the most successful home audio products for F & P at the time.
Thousands of these were sold and some still survive to this day.
The model was commonly known as the "H.E.S 20" or "Home Entertainment System 20" - the number referring to the 20 watts per channel RMS output power.
A smaller number of these units were produced with a black front panel, and a few of those received a black finish on the cabinet instead of the woodgrain.
These units were supplied with fairly basic speakers in wooden cabinets that gave adequate performance but many people chose to swap them out for something better.
The turntable was a belt-driven type with DC motor that worked surprisingly well and gave excellent results.
There was a MK1 version of this which was basically the same except it had a Garrard turntable.
