Linx

Linx Audio started in Auckland in the late 1970s and continued through until the early 1990s.
It was run by Dean Dalzell who also owned Reuban James Ltd.
At some stage, possibly after Linx ceased production in NZ, the UK distributor took over the business and set up a manufacturing facility there.
Many Linx products bear a "Made in England" label as a result.
However, it seems that manufacturing in the UK didn't last very long and Linx as a brand had disappeared by the late 1990s.

Linx Nebula amplifier

The Nebula followed the design of many of the other Linx products using a slim-line case with beveled ends. The front panel featured a black transparent acrylic panel with laser-cut 'fingers' which when pressed, activated the respective input and also lit up.
Power output is specified as 65 watts per channel in to 8 ohms and 90 watts into 4 ohms.
The unit includes both moving magnet and moving coil phono pre-amp stages.

Linx Stratos amplifier

The Stratos system was introduced in 1987 and consisted of a separate pre-amp and two monoblock power amplifiers. Again using the slimline case presentation with beveled ends.
The power amplifiers were rated at 120 watts into 8 ohms and 200 watts into 4 ohms. These units were produced in New Zealand.

Linx Quasar amplifier

Like most of the Linx range of equipment, there is very little information available now. We don't know the power rating of this amplifier, but as it is very similar in layout and design to the Nebula model, we suspect it has similar power capabilities.
As with the Nebula, it features a phono pre-amp with both moving coil and moving magnet stages.
