Information about Avalon Audio is difficult to find but it appears that the company started off as Avalon Radio Corporation in 1963. Located at 119 Wellesley Street in Auckland, it ran until 1983 at which point it changed name to "Avalon Audio Corporation".
The business then ran for another twenty years until closing in 2003.
In that time, Avalon Audio was a manufacturer, importer, distributor, agent and Hi-Fi dealer, at one stage having a shop at 587 Mt Eden Rd in Auckland and later on, business premises at 630B Great South Road in Ellerslie and 12 Holloway Place in Penrose.
At some point during the 1970s and 1980s, they manufactured the well-known and highly acclaimed A&R Cambridge A60.
During the 1980s and 1990s they were the NZ agent for DENON audio.
